The African Business Roundtable held its 31st meeting of the Board of Directors and Members General meeting on 13th November 2019 at Da Vinci Hotel in Sandton Johannesburg, South Africa. The occasion was timely as members attending the second edition of the African Investment Forum were also able to meet for ABR meetings.

The ABR President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr Samuel Dossou-Aworet chaired both the 31st Meeting of the Board of Directors and Members General Meetings. The other Board Members in attendance were Mr Justin Chinyanta, ABR Vice President Southern Africa, Madame Amina Gerba, vice President International chapter and Mrs Eniola Fadayomi, Board member, West Africa Region.

The ABR Board resolved to hold the Annual General Meeting   in 2020, which will coincide with the 30th anniversary of the African Business Roundtable. To refresh the memory, in March 1990 at a historic meeting in Cairo, the African Development Bank Group established the African Business Roundtable (ABR), Africa’s foremost continent-wide association of businesses and business leaders.

The ABR President, Mr. Samuel Dossou-Aworet said that his mission was to make ABR a truly pan-African association of businessmen and women, an organization that is open to all, including the African diaspora and foreign businesses and where the principles of good governance and transparency prevail in line with the vision of its founding father.

As the ABR will be celebrating thirty years in 2020, it became imperative to reflect on the past, embrace and appreciate the present, look forward to and make adequate preparations for a brighter future.  The Board of Directors rose to the occasion, engaged in robust conversation and exchange of ideas and came up with useful decisions to move the Association to greater heights.

The ABR Board of Directors, by a unanimous resolution, gave full mandate to the ABR President and Chairman of the Board, Mr Samuel Dossou Aworet, to revisit the organization’s past and undertake necessary actions that would further the development and expansion of the African Business Roundtable as a respectable global corporate entity.  As part of the celebrations, the ABR would be producing a book before the end of year 2020.
